Who we are

Dear Parents,

My name is Veronica Vatavu. I have owned a kindergarten in San Francisco for 5 years.

I am the licensed provider and the owner of Wonderful Children Day Care in San Francisco. We are CPR & First Aid, Health & Safety & Nutrition certified.

In my country of origin I was a licensed MD for over 25+ years, with a medical degree in Internal Medicine and Epidemiology. I have spent half of my career working in pediatric clinics and hospitals while treating children of all ages.

My medical career ended in 2012 when I moved to the US to be with my daughter. During this time I continued what I started in my early medical career - working with children and childcare services.

My medical and nanny experience has taught me that early childhood education and development is the true path to success. I am an advocate for creating a unique environment for your child, based on age, mental state and personality traits.

With this in mind, Wonderful Children Daycare was created. Both I and my staff work closely together to educate children and make their early learning experience healthy, fun and enjoyable.

We want to have a place where adults can feel safe and confident for their children, and children can come with pleasure, eager for knowledge and exploration. The curriculum in our unit combines the Mother Goose Time program with the principles of the Montessori method - respecting specific curricular areas, using Montessori materials, Reggio Emilia philosophy and the requirements of the pedagogy of the State of California. What we aim to do is to form a beautiful collaboration between the WONDERFUL CHILDREN team and the parents, because only together will we be able to educate for the future!

Why Us

Home-like and cozy
child care

Wonderful Children child care is an individualized learning experience where children, parents, and teachers grow together to instill children with a love of learning.

We are a preschool child care with three age groups – infant, toddler and preschool. Each child is given enough attention, thanks to the high ratio of the number of caregivers and children.

Infant (from birth to 15 months old) – 1:3

Toddler (1-3 years old) – 1:4

Preschool (3-5 years old) – 1:5

*Please note that we currently accept children over 6 months of age.

Music, yoga and extra

Twice a week a music teacher comes to us, and the children sing in a mini-choir to the accompaniment. These are the favorite days of all children. Everyone loves Bella and the fun songs and dances they learn.

One of our full-time tutors is also a Candidate Master of Sports in Rhythmic Gymnastics and a certified yoga trainer with extensive experience. Light physical exercises and stretching is what is necessary for the proper growth of babies and the develops essential balance and motor skills.

Home-made, nutritious meals

At Wonderful Children child care we lovingly provide home-made, fresh and organic foods daily. We offer nutrient-filled meals kids love!

Our menus fuel their bodies and create healthy habits early. We create foods like grandma used to make, such as: from scratch whole wheat pancakes, home-made meatballs and rice, chicken soup for the soul and fresh baked cottage cheese desserts.

Wonderful Children Day Care is located in the townhome of The Gateway Apartments & Townhouses Financial District San Francisco. We have security-controlled building access and security cameras.

Curriculum

We work according to the guidelines and standards of the California Department of Education. Wonderful Children will be using a combination of the Mother Goose Time with elements of Montessori Pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia Approach. A combination of these three Early Childhood theories is very beneficial to our little explorers.
